Meet Oakley Ford-teen celebrity, renowned pop star, child of famous movie stars, hottie with millions of fangirls… and restless troublemaker. On the surface he has it all, but with his home life disintegrating, his music well suddenly running dry, and the tabloids having a field day over his outrageous exploits, Oakley’s team decides it’s time for an intervention. The result: an image overhaul, complete with a fake girlfriend meant to show the world he’s settled down.

Enter seventeen-year-old Vaughn Bennett-devoted sister, part-time waitress, the definition of “normal.” Under ordinary circumstances she’d never have taken this gig, but with her family strapped for cash, she doesn’t have much of a choice. And for the money Oakley’s team is paying her, she figures she can put up with outlandish Hollywood parties and a team of publicists watching her every move. So what if she thinks Oakley’s a shallow, self-centered jerk? It’s not like they’re going to fall for each other in real life…right?

Last year I managed to get myself hooked on Erin Watt’s (a.k.a. Jen Frederick and Elle Kennedy) Royals series (Paper Princess, Broken Prince, and Twisted Palace) and I knew that I would try anything else of theirs after loving those books, so when I had an opportunity to read this latest book of theirs, I jumped at it.

And I’m so glad that I did! This was a fun, cute read that I’m pretty sure I’d read again several times.

We got to hear the story from both Vaughn and Oakley, which was fun, and Erin Watt did a great job of making each voice distinct and clearly different from the other. By doing that we were also showed certain aspects from the others eyes without having too much of the story given or explained away.

I also really enjoyed the little look into celebrity relationships and behind the scenes contracts. They did such a great job with all the little details and I could really relate to Vaughn being overwhelmed, and Oakley’s blase attitude.

This was also the perfect read while we wait for the Royals continuation with two more books from Easton. So if your looking for something to fill the gap while you wait, this might be perfect for you.

Oh, and if you’ve preordered a copy, here’s a little promotion they have going on. Just go to their website and fill out the form.
